Survey what must be removed
Record the existing length, material and post positions. Note whether posts are concreted in and whether access permits machinery or only manual work. A fence attached to a wall or shared with a neighbor may require a different removal sequence and agreement.
Ask whether the price includes loading, transport, disposal charges and removal of old footings. Separate reusable panels from waste. Check local rules for treated timber and other waste streams rather than assuming that all materials can be burned or placed in household bins.
In the budget tool, the removal rate applies to the entire planned route. If only part of an old fence is coming out, calculate that scope separately and enter it under other costs. Confirm who fills holes and repairs disturbed surfaces. Photograph conditions before work starts.
