Measure horizontal distance and level change
A sloping ground surface has a longer measured length than its horizontal projection. Post layout should follow the measurement convention required by the product. Record the vertical change along each run and mark abrupt transitions instead of treating the entire boundary as one uniform slope.
Racked panels follow a slope within the product allowance. Stepped panels stay level and change elevation at posts, leaving varying spaces underneath. Loose boards can be arranged to follow ground, but rail geometry and board lengths still need checking.
The planner draws a top-down layout and does not calculate terrain elevations. Use horizontal dimensions for its quantities, then prepare a side-elevation sketch. Confirm maximum racking angle, permissible gaps, longer posts and cut details with the supplier. Do not infer pool-barrier suitability from the top-down drawing.
