Look beyond the surface
Vinyl and composite are different product families. Composite formulations and support systems vary; a board made for decking should not be assumed suitable for a fence. Check approved spans, thermal-movement details and compatible posts in the installation instructions.
Compare complete kits, replacement-part availability and cleaning instructions. Record whether reinforcement, rails and caps are included. A panel price without its supporting system is an incomplete comparison.
Use the same layout in both estimates and enter the specified center spacing for each product. Keep long-term cleaning or repair allowances based on your own maintenance plan. Do not infer durability from a material label alone.
